Who manages E-gambling in Jamaica?

The Jamaican Gambling sector is regulated and controlled by the Betting, Gaming & Lottery Commision (BGLC) which works as a statutory body of the Jamaican Government’s Ministry of Finance. It is the Commissions duty to facilitate and enable sustainable growth with in the Gaming Industry. The Commission registers, licences and approves various activities which fall under these broad categories as well as audits and monitors compliance to ensure that licensees operate within the terms of their licenses.

The Casino Gaming Commission which was established in 2010 by the Casino Gaming Act of the same year is charged with thepower to grant casino licenses. The Commision also stands as a regulatory boy for casino gambling on the island.
 

 

Overview:

In mid 2010, the BGLA underwent a major update with amendments following soon after. The amendments also expanded the activities which would require licensing by the Commission to include the manufacturing, testing, supplying and selling of gaming machines. The Commison also began their investigation into the the feasibilty of internet gaming. Today online gambling is legal in Jamaica however it is only available to tourists.
